Precision CNC Turning of a Ductile Iron Driveshaft Flange
At Aztec Manufacturing, we specialize in precision CNC machining for almost any volume run. This low volume project was manufactured for a customer in Michigan, and designed for use in an automotive application as a drive shaft flange. The part required dimensions of 3″ in height, an outside diameter of 5.75″, with tolerances of ±0.0004″.
Composed of 7003 ductile iron, it utilized various precision machining processes. Machining of this product was conducted on our CNC lathe and included drilling, tapping, and boring. The inside diameter of the flange received spline broaching. Dimensional quality was monitored throughout with functional gage checks.
